What vehicle do you recommend to tow a 26ft. Sunline trailer? We now tow with a Ford Econoline 150. the motor works extremely hard if we go over 55 miles per hour.

We think loaded it is about 6000 lbs.
It is a smaller V8 and is a 1999.
We tow at highway speeds.
We would like power and fuel economy.

If you want to stay with a ford product I recommend you go with a 05 and up F150 with a 3 valve 5.4L and higher gear ratio in the axle(s).

If you seek to go larger than this I do not recommend a gas engine in a super duty because mpg will be horrible. If you decide to go diesel in the super duty I recommend also a 05 and up. I do not recommend a 03-04 6.0 diesel.

Thank you for your reccomendation. It confirms what the salesman said at the Ford garage in Conneaut Lake ,PA.
Now, we just have to find a van.
