Hey,
I have an 1984 F150 truck. Automatic with a 300 straight 6.
I was going down the road to work and had been traveling for about 30 minutes when it just quit firing. After a few minutes (maybe 10) it would crank back up and go down the road til about 20 minutes later it again just quit. I had it put on the diognostic machine and it said that it was the coil. Well,I have changed the coil, it keeps doing it, so I changed the voltage regulator, the ignition switch, plugs, wires, replace the modul on the side of the distributor, and replaced the pick-up in the distributor. It is still cutting off, It acts as if something is maybe getting hot and cutting the truck off. It just quits. Any ideas?
