Ford Expert:The blinking overdrive light is the same as if the check engine lite was on. You need to hace the transmissions fault codes read to find out which code(s) you have.

Customer (name blocked for privacy):the van transmission is engaging fine. while driving the light keep blinking,a mechanic ran a scan and told me that the clutch is turn off and needs an overhaul
Ford Expert:.
Ford Expert:There are solenoids in the valve body of the transmission that can cause the code you are referring to, this alone can cause the concern. A repair to the valve body may repair this. You may want to seek a second opinion at the ford dealer. It does not sound like it needs an overhaul.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):was there ever a recall on these vehicles for this problem
Ford Expert:.
Ford Expert:No, not a recall. there are some technical service bullitens about repair procedures
Ford Expert:I am looking them up now
Customer (name blocked for privacy):do you think that there might be a torque converter problem
Ford Expert:.
Ford Expert:No, maybe a torque convertor solenoid though
Ford Expert:.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):thank you i will go to a ford dealer for a second opinion
Ford Expert:.
Ford Expert:You are welcome
