what is the torque spec for the 8 mm head bolts?

Already Tried:
hayns said 24 ft-lbs, and broke bolt before reaching torque spec.

the bolts that mount the head to the block, there are two 8mm bolts and eight 12mm bolts, for my 03 explorer, 4.0L SOHC, flex fuel. hayns manual said 24 Ft-lbs, but the bolt broke before reaching that torque.

when in the sequnece do the 8mm bolts get torqued?

this is the procedure:

1. torque the (8) 12mm bolts to 26 ft-lbs, making sure they are evenly tightened

2. torque the (2) 8mm bolts to 23-25 ft-lbs

3. tighten (8) 12mm bolts 90 degrees

4. tighten (8) 12mm bolts a furthur 90 degrees

when tightening the 12mm bolts follow this order (5 & 6 closest to chain):

5 1 3 7

6 4 2 8
